The information we collect
When you fill in our EV charger installation survey
Our EV Charger Installation Survey asks for:
- your name, phone number, email address and the address of the property
- details about your vehicle and charging needs (for example whether you have a charging cable, your vehicle's socket type and any brand preferences)
- details about the property (for example off-road parking, where you'd like the charger, where your consumer unit (fuse box) is and the approximate distance to it)
- any photos you choose to attach, such as your consumer unit, electric meter, main cut-out, driveway and cable route
- anything else you tell us in the comments
Photos can show more than you intend, such as your home, your car's number plate or people in the background, and photos taken on a phone often contain the location where they were taken. Please only send photos you're happy for us to see.
When you press Submit, the survey is sent to us by email. It is not stored on our website.
When you ask for a quote
Our quote request form is provided by Tradify, the job management software we use. It asks for your name, email address, phone number, job address, a description of the job and any files you attach. What you enter goes directly into our Tradify account and is handled under Tradify's own terms and privacy policy as well as this one.
When you contact us directly
If you call, email or message us (including on WhatsApp or Facebook), we keep a record of what you tell us so that we can respond and, if you go ahead, carry out the work.
If you use WhatsApp, Meta (which runs WhatsApp) also processes your messages under its own privacy policy. We have no control over that.
When you send us your CV
If you send us your CV (for example to accounts@rdfelectrical.com, as our careers page invites), we keep it, your covering message and your contact details so that we can get in touch if a suitable role comes up. Please don't include sensitive information we haven't asked for, such as health details.
When you become a customer
To quote for, carry out and support the work, we keep:
- your contact details and the address of the property
- details of the job, quotes, invoices and payments
- notes and photos taken during the job
- the certificates and records the work requires (for example Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports)
When you visit our website
- Postcode checker. Our "Do we cover your area?" checker runs entirely in your browser. The postcode you type is not sent to us or stored.
- Visitor counting. We count visits to our website using a cookie-free service provided by our web developer, KaiForgeDigital. It records only how many people visit and which website they came from.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web server automatically records technical information about each request, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser type. We use this to keep the website secure and working, and keep it for 30 days. Backups of our website server are also kept for 30 days.
Cookies
Our own website does not use cookies or similar tracking technology, and doesn't store anything in your browser.
The Tradify quote form is loaded from Tradify's website and may set its own cookies that are needed for the form to work. See Tradify's cookie and privacy policies for details.
Links to other websites, such as Google reviews, Facebook and WhatsApp, take you to services with their own cookie and privacy policies.
